Indexing and Abstracting
Indexing & Abstracting
The Gandhara Journal of Natural Sciences (GJNS) is dedicated to enhancing the visibility, accessibility, and academic credibility of the research it publishes. Our indexing and abstracting strategy focuses on making GJNS a globally recognized platform for high-quality scientific research.
This roadmap outlines our current indexing status and phased targets for achieving inclusion in leading academic databases.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
✅ Currently Indexed In
1. Kandahar University Institutional Repository – Provides open access for local and institutional researchers.
2. Google Scholar – Enables global discoverability of articles, ensuring they are accessible to researchers, students, and institutions worldwide.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Short-Term Targets (1–2 Years)
To expand its reach and visibility, GJNS is actively pursuing inclusion in key emerging academic directories and open-access platforms:
✅ ROAD (Directory of Open Access Scholarly Resources) – UNESCO’s service for open-access journals.
✅ ResearchBib – Broad indexing of academic journals across disciplines.
✅ JournalTOCs – Global access to GJNS’s tables of contents and new issues.
✅ EZB (Electronic Journals Library) – Used extensively by European academic libraries.
✅ WorldCat – Integration with global library catalog systems for wider reach.
Key Actions:
- Continue maintaining consistent publication of peer-reviewed issues.
- Assign DOIs through CrossRef for all articles to ensure permanent citation and easy linking.
- Strengthen ethical compliance through Turnitin plagiarism screening and COPE-aligned policies.
- Develop a digital preservation strategy via LOCKSS/CLOCKSS.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Medium-Term Targets (3–4 Years)
Building on short-term achievements, GJNS aims to secure inclusion in intermediate-level indexing services:
✅ DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) – To showcase adherence to international open-access best practices.
✅ Index Copernicus International (ICI) – For citation tracking and impact monitoring of emerging journals.
✅ CrossRef Full Membership – To assign persistent DOIs and enable advanced metadata linking.
✅ EBSCOhost and ProQuest – For access through global academic libraries and research institutions.
Key Actions:
- Expand the editorial board with international experts from diverse disciplines.
- Transition to a fully digital, user-friendly journal management system for submissions and reviews.
- Strengthen partnerships with academic and research institutions for special issues and conferences.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Long-Term Targets (5–7 Years)
The ultimate goal is to achieve indexing in top-tier international databases, including:
✅ Scopus (Elsevier) – For global visibility, citation tracking, and H-index calculation.
✅ Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics) – Inclusion in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) as a step toward SCIE/SSCI.
✅ PubMed Central (for health and biomedical sciences content).
✅ MEDLINE (if applicable to journal scope).
Key Actions:
- Consistently publish impactful, high-quality research across natural and applied sciences.
- Increase international citation metrics and readership.
- Enhance compliance with technical and ethical standards required by major indexing platforms.
